Screen Shot 2016-02-05 at 9.44.31 AMStanley Caulkins served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Forces.  He was stationed in England as part of the 8th Air Force, 96th Bomb Group, 338th Squadron.  Electing to fly rather than be a foot soldier, Mr. Caulkins enlisted into the service at 17 after graduating high school.  After receiving his training state side, he made his way to England aboard the Queen Elizabeth.  He became a radioman assigned to a B-17  Flying Fortress and was part of the crew assigned to the 5,000th B-17 built.

He completed 17 combat missions over Germany, but Stanley says that the most important thing he and his crew did wasn’t drop bombs, rather, the most important thing he says they did was bring wounded soldiers back home after wars end.
