James McIlroy

War on Terror

As a member of the United States Marine Corps, James McIlroy served his country during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.  James repaired and maintained EA-6B Prowlers.  The aircrafts primary mission was to hunt down and destroy SAM sights.  During the war in Iraq, the mission changed.  The Prowlers now were tasked with controlling the electromagnetic spectrum will depriving the enemy of it.  This became a critical element to combating the use of IED's by the enemy.

It honors those who served in the military and on the home front and highlights the values they demonstrated in serving – duty, honor, and courage. It examines how periods of conflict have profoundly shaped American society. It educates visitors about the costs of war, both on a personal and social level.
