Vivian Turner

World War II

During WWII, Vivian Turner worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" in support of the war effort.  While her husband was overseas, she worked for Douglas Aircraft in a factory in California.  She said she was hired because she was small enough to fit inside the wings of the aircraft being built.

It honors those who served in the military and on the home front and highlights the values they demonstrated in serving – duty, honor, and courage. It examines how periods of conflict have profoundly shaped American society. It educates visitors about the costs of war, both on a personal and social level.
