Americans in Wartime Experience
May 10, 2021
AWE LogoThe Americans in Wartime Experience — formerly called the National Museum of Americans in Wartime — has recently introduced its new brand. You may have already noticed the new logo above. Look closely as the logo was designed to evoke the feel of what is known as the "invasion circle" that was stenciled onto American tanks during the latter part of World War II. The logo features five subtle arrows in the negative space, pointing inwardly to form the star. This symbolizes the variety of ways so many Americans, whether at home or abroad, sacrificed and contributed toward the American wartime effort in any given conflict.

We are also making tremendous progress toward the launch of the first phase of our new New Americans in Wartime Experience website. It is being built not only to tell the story of the Americans in Wartime Experience, but (in later phases) to actually allow people to "visit" and explore and learn virtually.

Update from our CEO, Dennis Brant

SPRING HAS SPRUNG and so has the activity at the site of the Americans in Wartime Experience. Last week I had the opportunity to walk the site with our rep, Carl Rigler, from Dewberry to review the progress that has been made to date.

So far, we have moved tons of dirt, cleared an additional 14 acres since March 14, 2021 and will have our temporary bridge installed in the very near future. In addition we are pleased and extremely excited to announce the return of our Tank Farm Open House in Nokesville on Saturday and Sunday, September 25th & 26th. Keep an eye out for more details as we get closer to the date.
The Americans in Wartime Experience explores the impact of war and conflict on America since WWI. It honors those who served in the military and on the home front and highlights the values they demonstrated in serving – duty, honor, and courage. It examines how periods of conflict have profoundly shaped American society. It educates visitors about the costs of war, both on a personal and social level. It challenges visitors to remember the service and sacrifices made by their fellow citizens to preserve and defend our freedoms. LEARN MORE
